Halloween is just around the corner. However, an idyllic and eerie village named 'Haworth' is perfect for the sinister season.

Yorkshire is rich in culture and heritage. From the 'War of the Roses', to its wealthy farming industry, the county has had a profound impact on British history entirely. Although, a quaint village immersed in the West Yorkshire countryside, is deeply responsible for this and recently has spiralled more interest, in the entertainment world.

What makes Haworth rich heritage and history?

Remarkably, it is most known for its significant literature history. Originally being the home place for the Brontë's, it is still very popular for book and media enthusiasts. The famous family included: Emily, Charlotte, Branwell, Anne and Patrick (and the mother Maria before her death). Notably, they are best known for the award-winning gothic novels "Wuthering Heights", who was written by Emily and "Jane Eyre" by Charlotte. The sisters were genius novelists and even had secret pen names. These gothic novels ultimately had a seismic impact; created a blueprint for romantic literature. From the tragic love tale between Heathcliff and Catherine, plus the eerie natural imagery of the Moors, altogether transformed a reputation for Haworth.

Additionally, there are other reasons for the village's famousness. It is also home to the classic called "The Railway Children", where many scenes were recorded in nearby places like Keighley. This traditional classic is a beloved part of British culture for many families. Alongside this, Haworth is wrapped with mystery and twisting folklore, as they frequently offer numerous tales and ghost tours. Tragically, it is the location of a famous athlete's death. Named Lily Cove, she was known professionally as the "Leaping Lily". Famous for her: stunts, skills and parachute talent, the fate of her death is a popular topic. At 21 years of age, Cove unfortunately fell near Ponden Reservoir, after a failed parachute event. Reportedly, the athlete suffered from a severe head injury, which led to her sudden death in 1906. A century later on, this tragic tale still captures many people's thoughts.

Named the "The Peculiar Shop" in Haworth, they provide haunted dolls and folklore items. Moreover, there are local landmarks. Locations like the famous Church and the mysterious Moors are heavily popular. It is believed that the setting of 'Wuthering Heights' still stands.
