Hey everyone, I hope you are looking forward to my new blog venture with Devote Radio as I move from reviewing movies to exploring all things book-related.
This week I will be diving into the first instalment of Elsie Silver's Chestnut Spring series, Flawless.
Blurb
The rules were simple.
Keep my hands off his daughter...
But now I'm stuck with her. There's only one bed. And, well, rules are made to be broken.
I'm the golden boy of professional bull riding. Or at least I was until it all blew up in my face.
Now my agent says I have to clean up my image, so I'm stuck with his ball-busting daughter for the rest of the season as my 'full-time supervision'.
But I don't need a goddamn babysitter, especially one with skin-tight jeans, a sexy smirk, and a mouth she can't stop running... A mouth I can't stop thinking about.
She says this means nothing.
I say this means everything.
She says there are boundaries we shouldn't cross. That my reputation can't take any more hits - and neither can her damaged heart.
I say I'm going to steal it anyway.
My Review
I remember seeing this book on the shelves at The Works on my local high street, and I was drawn to the cover. I picked it up and read the blurb. Next thing I knew, I had purchased it, and it wasn't long before it was on my bookshelf waiting to be read.
I finished the book in two weeks, and let me say it was hard not to put down.
The character development between Rhett Eaton and Summer Hamilton was one of my favourite parts of the novel. Her commitment to keep things 'professional' between herself and Rhett was enticing to read at times. Summer is a girl who likes to stick to rules, whilst Rhett is an arrogant country bloke hoping to be sensible around Summer. The pair bicker, exchange tense moments with each other and eventually break professional boundaries.
Furthermore, I also loved the moments where Summer finally admired Rhett's passion and determination for bull riding, so she started accompanying him to every one of his competitions, watching with anticipation in the crowd. She also becomes more and more aware of Rhett's muscular injuries, and so she cares for him, which causes their physical attraction to grow.
I would definitely recommend this book to readers interested in country-life romance.
