Is Vogue Becoming a Collectable Item?

Vogue is the classic fashion magazine. Although, attitudes have altered about the value of the Vogue's items.

Origin's of Vogue

Vogue literally means fashion. Dubbed as the "Fashion Bible", it has been famous since 1892 and has transformed with the times. Notably, it is a hotspot for: art, beauty, entertainment and journalism. A part of its popularity is connected to its photographers. Engaging with legendary photographers like Irving Penn, to award-winning writers like Truman Capote, contribute to its regal reputation. Originally, it was discovered by Arthur Baldwin Turner in "The City That Never Sleeps", also known as New York City.

The rise of Vogue

Lately, Vogue is a present and a past masterpiece. However, its peak was reached in the 1990's to the early 2000's, where it was vastly purchased and major celebrities starred on its front covers. This is evident as 1.2 million copies were created per issue of American Vogue. Interestingly, there are a few branches of the global fashion empire. From America, Britain, France, Asia, Middle East and other European countries, there are various denominations of Vogue. Alongside this success, it has surged in popularity in 2026. With the 'The Devil Wears Prada 2' being released this year, Vogue deeply connects to the movie. Exploring the fashion world, the movie delves deep into cultural history and iconic fashion brands. Many believe the powerful boss Miranda Priestly (portrayed by the talented Meryl Streep), was inspired by Vogue's Anna Wintour. The fashion flick also featured the iconic Anne Hathaway, Emily Blunt and Stanley Tucci.

Has the value of Vogue's products evolved?

Arguably, Vogue's value has changed. Reportedly, Vogue has been releasing less but more valuable copies. Perceptions of this "fashion bible" has evolved into a collector's item. Apps like Pinterest have been sharing pictures of "Vogue tables", where people have made a make-shift coffee table from older magazine copies. Moreover, it is seen that Vogue fans have been framing older copies in cabinets or even on walls. This has shifted the value of Vogue items, as many have been selling older copies. Remarkably, they can be sold from a few hundred pounds to thousands. Perhaps overall the quantity of magazines across the media have reduced, but their value has drastically risen. Only time will tell the future value of Vogue products.
