Theme parks are a beloved part of entertainment. However, which are the best to visit in the United Kingdom?

Alton Towers

Alton Towers is a hotspot for leisure, fun and activity. Located in Stoke-on-Trent, it is majorly visited from around the country, as records show a total of 2.5 million per annum. Their high visits occur from a range of reasons. One strong reason is from hosting infamous rides such as: Smiler, Oblivion and Galactica. These have crazed ride-lovers since 1980. Another strong reason is due to the amount of activities available. They offer their famed theme park, CBeebies Land and even a waterpark. This is perfect for families, as it is suitable for younger members and people of older age. Additionally, many have raved over their rollercoaster restaurant, where your food is transported by a track! Famously, Alton Towers also contain an aquarium, where you can touch starfish. 

Thorpe Park

Welcomed to the public in 1979, Thorpe Park has enthralled visitors for near a half a century. Located in Surrey, it is a place for contentment and enjoyment. The theme park provides a variation of rides like Alton Towers. Favoured rides such as: Hysteria, Stealth and the Swarm has marvelled many. Shockingly, Hysteria is Britain's biggest and tallest ride, where speeds reach up to 81mph! Moreover, Thorpe Park is also home to Amity Beach, where they have a selection of water rides for all of the family. Interestingly, before the theme park was established it used to be a gravel pit, where individuals would extract sand and stones! 

Flamingo Land

Immersed in the Yorkshire countryside, Flamingo Land is a highlighted attraction in the North. As well as being an iconic theme park, they also provide a famed zoo. Originally, Flamingo Land was solely an animal centre. Opened in 1959 by Edwin Petland Hick, it started with a group of flamingos (this is where its name came from). They host iconic rides like: Velocity, Sik and Cliff Hanger. Astonishingly, Flamingo Land receives over 1.5 million years per year! It is very different from the other parks like Alton Towers and Thorpe Park, as it provides its legendary zoo. They offer over 140 species of animals and it also held the UK's first killer whale in 1968!

Gulliver's World

Located in Warrington, Cheshire, this resort is a beloved destination in the North West. Providing over 25 rides, they offer some unique places for families. Lands like: Oz, the Wild West and pirate places, are specifically individual to Gulliver's World. Enchantingly, you can stroll on the iconic yellow brick road! This is different from the other parks in the country, as parking is free and is aimed to be more affordable. Notably they also have enjoying water rapid rides, where it can hold up to four people per time. Funnily, the rides purpose is to get all participants to get soaked.  Overall, Gulliver's World is distinctively aimed at children and families, where there is endless opportunities.
