Joan Jett and the Blackhearts frenzying the UK

Joan Jett on stage 2026.

This week the "Queen of Rock n Roll' and the Blackhearts have stirred rockfans with their powerful presence, however what else is the band doing?

Thursday's performance

On this previous Thursday (on 2nd July), Joan Jett and the Blackhearts made their grand entrance back into the United Kingdom. For the first time in over a decade, the UK warmly embraced the return of the rock n roll legend. Hundreds of Jettheads queued outside Glasgow's O2 arena, where many fans connected and chatted in the crowds. Around 2,500 rockers attended the event.

The Essex-born band "The Meffs" supported the show, as the duo displayed their punk music. Lead singer Lily Hopkins and drummer Lewis Copsey, thrilled the Glasgow crowd through their talent. Many rockers were marvelled by the pair's skill and authenticity. After the performances, merchandise was available to purchase from both bands.

Saturday's performance

On Saturday night, Joan Jett and the Blackhearts played at Manchester's iconic Academy. Yet again -supported by the Meffs- , they have rocked the Northern stages, around the United Kingdom. The titled "queen of rock n roll", impressed thousands on the stage, through her fierce and unchanging demeanour. From her vocals, talent and attitude, Jett's rebellious energy was undeniable to the crowds. Uniquely, people of all ages attended, emphasising the significance of the Blackhearts.

Jettheads have raved about the genuine interactions with fans, after the show. From photos, to videos, many are marvelled about the engagements by the Blackhearts. As stated from Joan's record producer in the show -Kenny Laguna- , England is a memorable place for the band. In the 70's around the States, being a female in the rock industry was very challenging. However, England to Laguna and Jett was a more welcoming place for women in punk and this sparked the start to the Blackheart's career.

Many of Jett's songs were significant in the charts. Hits like: "Crimson and Clover", "Bad Reputation" and "I Hate Myself For Loving You", fans were frenzied in the Academy. Although, one song rose up the Manchester crowd the most. The rock anthem "I Love Rock ’n’ Roll" moved many, as cheering and dancing was exchanged. Back to its genesis in 1981, the hit remained No.1 for 7 executive weeks.

This was reflected in her 2018 "Bad Reputation" documentary. However, Joan Jett and the Blackhearts were denied by 23 major record labels. This did not halt the band's dreams. Instead Jett became the first woman in rock history to innovate her own record label. Because of this and until this day, she supports smaller rock bands by giving them a platform to project their art. Known musicians like L7 and the Dollyrots are under Blackheart's record label.

Sunday's performance

Last night, Joan Jett and the Blackhearts outstanded Yorkshire's stage. Located at Leed's O2 Academy, over two thousand people attended the function. Yet again, supported by musicians 'The Meffs', the crowds felt the strong presence of the Blackhearts.

Jett's previous band 'The Runaways', were very high-achieving back in the 70's. Formed by famous members like: Sandy West, Cherie Currie, LIta Ford, Vicki Blue and Jackie Fox, they formed an undeniable rock anthem. Named "Cherry Bomb", it has been used in numerous movies like the Marvel movie, "Guardians of the Galaxy". Many were moved by the Blackhearts playing nostalgic tracks from the Runaways.

There were many highlights of the band's performance. Authentically, a part of Jett's performance is linked to her activism. From preaching about global peace to veganism, Jett is never shy around a crowd. In previous shows, the Blackhearts have taken the time to share important messages like about the ways of the government in the United States. Not only does this highlight Jett's rebellious energy, but her caring nature.

What else is the Blackhearts doing?

More global shows are scheduled. For the last 5 decades, Joan Jett has toured non-stop. But in the last few years, the rock band has stayed closer to North America. So, with these upcoming and recent tours, Jettheads are excited to experience Jett's return.
