3 contemporary and compelling cases of extraterrestrial life

Being alone isn't scary, it's the unknown that is more unsettling. Space is vast and infinite. However, what cases are the most compelling to determine life in the cosmos?

UFO's existence is definite. It stands for "unidentified flying object", which can relate to a variety of things. From foreign equipment, to unexplained sightings, it does not always relate to the typical "alien agenda." Although, the following three cases show strong possibilities of otherworldly species.

Phoenix's peculiar phenomenon

Thursday, 27th March, 1997. A typical start to a Thursday, but it certainly did not end that way. Thousands witnessed an unexplained experience, that can only be explained by one thing. A UFO. Many experienced large light formations in the sky. This was seen in the west side of the United States, involving Nevada and Arizona. Initially, the first light pattern was seen between 7:55pm-8:40pm. A V shaped structure was recorded in the North American horizon, peculiarly with no sound; it did not appear on radar.

Around 10pm, the second sighting was documented. But, on this occasion the reddish lights were spotted hovering above the Sierra Estrella Mountains. This March night's case is even more compelling, as it was a clear night and many came to observe a comet. After the "Phoenix Lights", an investigation was not pursued. This sparked confusion and mysteriousness to witnesses. As time progressed, pressure was built and finally an investigation was carried out. Individuals now state it as a paranormal object or a UFO. Whatever it was, it ignited confusion and curiosity in the world.

Mexico's mysterious sightings

Mexico is not a stranger to unknown experiences. Lately, it has been ranked 7th place for the most extraterrestrial activity. The most recent case was recorded in 2026. A triangular shape was spotted in the sky and is described to be a part of "non-human technology". This phenomenon has been spread across social media. Observers stated the usual UFO characteristics, that the aircraft emitted no sound and it had fast speed. Moreover, this is just one example of an unexplained case in Mexico.

Notably, another location of Mexico is a magnet for "alien activity." It is known as the Popocatépetl volcano. Due to its size and placement, it has sparked a reputation for otherworldly presences. It has also been infamous for being a "wormhole for aliens". Glowing objects and orbs have been spotted around the volcano, whilst ufologists are more intrigued by this unusual activity.

Japan's alien folklore

Japan is a hotspot for visitors to see extraterrestrial attractions. Many visit to catch a possible glimpse of alien sightings because of nearby folklore and rumours. Areas such as: Tokyo, Kofu and Hakui are the most common for visitors. Archaic accounts of flying saucers popularised; inspired places like museums to be built. Allegedly, a widely believed account occurred in 1975. Two children stated seeing a  "glowing orange object", near a vineyard. Alongside this, they reported the figures wearing silver attire. This claim is more legitimate, as other accounts around this sighting support this heavily.

Overall, humans fascinate and fathom over space. This is evident with this week's eclipse, as many gathered to observe this celestial event. As these cases are some of the strongest and most determining, opinions differ on the existence of space life. As astronauts explore space deeper, maybe one day we will get a deeper insight of outer earth life.
