Wolves sign promising young striker Sean Neave on season-long loan

Wolverhampton Wanderers have strengthened their attacking options with the signing of Newcastle United youngster Sean Neave on a season-long loan.

The 19-year-old striker completed his move to Molineux late on deadline day, joining Wolves for his first loan spell in senior football.

Neave arrives in the West Midlands having progressed through Newcastle United’s academy, which he joined at the age of 13.

He signed his first professional contract with the Magpies in July 2024 and has since begun making the step into senior football, including being named among the substitutes when Newcastle lifted the Carabao Cup at Wembley.

Champions League and Premier League experience

Despite his age, Neave already has experience at the highest levels of the game.

His senior Newcastle debut came in the Champions League last season, when he appeared from the bench during a 6-1 victory over Qarabag FK.

He later made his Premier League debut on the final day of the season against Fulham.

The striker has also represented England at under-19 level, making his debut in March.

Interestingly, Neave is no stranger to Wolves either. Just a month after making his England under-19 debut, he found the net against Wolves’ under-21 side.

Wolves head coach Cesar Peixoto said the club had been looking to add another option up front and believes Neave brings both potential and hunger to his squad.

Speaking following the signing, Peixoto said:

Sean’s a young guy with a lot of potential and a lot of hunger to be successful.

He added that Neave would bring greater competition for places and give Wolves another option as the youngster develops within the club's style of play.

Technical director Matt Jackson also highlighted the striker's work ethic, technical ability and personality, saying Wolves wanted a young player eager to learn and bring energy to the group.

Executive chairman Nathan Shi said Neave's younger profile complements the more experienced attacking options already available to Wolves as the club prepares for what he described as a long and challenging Championship season.

Neave will now continue his development at Molineux as Wolves look to make the most of his first extended opportunity in senior first-team football.
