Spiro and Dean reviving the retro style

In the last decade, many music artists have attached themselves with styles, times and aesthetics. Sienna Spiro and Olivia Dean are examples of reviving retro fashion and music.

Individuality and unique styles makes many music stars stand out . In the last decade,  Harry Style's distinctive fashion taste and Sabrina Carpenter's nostalgic tour outfits, are examples of showing their  originality publically.

The Start of Sienna Spiro

Sienna Spiro is involved with a range of music genres in her songs. Spiro sings in genres like soul, jazz and pop. Recently she has risen to fame with charted songs such as "Die on This Hill" that has 343.4K views. She first rocketed into fame in 2021 on TikTok. From posting original songs and covers, through time Spiro gained a fanbase. Initially she was influenced by numerous traditional soul and jazz singers like: Frank Sinatra, Nina Simone and Etta James.

Presently she has been compared to Adele because of her recently released music, an example of this is "The Visitor." With the various meaningful lyrics and her intense vocals, this has resonated with many music listeners. On the billboard it debuted at number 43 within the first month. Firstly released on the 13th March 2026, it marks a turning point in her career. Another part of Spiro's branding is involved with her midcentury interest. Spiro's style and soul influence is heavily inspired by the 1960s aesthetic, which appeals for a range of music and history fans. Alongside this, Spiro has struck many with her unique vocal range. Loved for her "raspy voice", has marked a sensational start to Sienna Spiro's career. Between May to August 2026, she is touring internationally.

Olivia Dean's strong success

At the 2026 Brit Awards, Olivia Dean has achieved "Artist of the year" and received three out of four of her nominations. Recently she rapidly rose in the music charts and has over 61 million monthly Spotify listeners. Many music fans are attracted to her genuine and individual songs. Originally, Olivia Dean was primarily influenced by genres like soul, pop and jazz. Other music stars have significantly inspired her music career such as: Aretha Franklin, Carole King and Al Green.

Frequently, Dean and Spiro have also been compared to the legendary Amy Winehouse. Because of her Motown inspired music and lyrics, many think Dean is reviving jazz and soul successfully. Dean's most played song recently is "So Easy (To Fall In Love)" as it has 341.3K views. Firstly released on September 26th 2025, this became the single that marked Olivia Dean's career. Alongside her music, Dean's unique style and fashion is memorable to many. Amongst her 1950's inspired look, Dean's vibrant dresses and feminine styles has been described as nostalgic. Her talent and soulful music is another part of her iconic image. As well as her current international tour, the "Deanos" have been infatuated by Dean's recent performances. 

Is Gen Z reviving the vintage aesthetic?

Overall countless music artists have shared their talent online. Some singers have been discovered, however many have not. Sienna Spiro and Olivia Dean are just two iconic examples of Gen Z talent. Both will and have heavily inspired upcoming artists with using the vintage aesthetic.
