Orphic Sounds with Sam Cook

Step outside the ordinary every Wednesday night with Sam and Orphic Sounds

From 10pm until midnight, Sam digs beyond the usual playlists to uncover upcoming artists, rare finds and sounds you might not hear anywhere else on the radio.

There are no genre boundaries here. One moment could take you through alternative, rock or experimental sounds, the next into something completely unexpected — with artists ranging from Black Sabbath and King Krule to Mk.gee and DOMi & JD BECK, alongside a few familiar favourites along the way.

As midnight draws closer, Orphic Sounds winds things down with ambient soundscapes and more atmospheric selections, bringing Wednesday night to a suitably unconventional close.

In Sam's Own Words ...

My love for music led me to study music production at South Staffs College and Nottingham Trent University where I started to create my own music under the name Peevee’s Head.

Eventually, I started to take interest in radio DJs such as Chris Morris and Dean Jackson after having one of my songs played on BBC Introducing. I took this further by joining NTU’s radio society where I had my own show on Fly Live, leading me to where I am today.

Here are three fun facts about me!
