Music Scheduling & Playlist Lead

Are you passionate about music and fascinated by what goes on behind the scenes at a radio station?

Devote Radio is looking for an enthusiastic, creative and organised Music Scheduling & Playlist Lead to take ownership of our music scheduling and playlist operations.

As a leadership role within our Broadcasting Team, you'll oversee the day-to-day scheduling of music across the station, helping manage broadcast clocks, develop playlists and maintain our growing music library.

Reporting directly to the Managing Director, you'll also play an active part in shaping Devote Radio's music playlists and future music direction, contributing ideas and recommendations that help develop our sound and connect with listeners.

This is a genuinely hands-on opportunity to gain practical radio industry experience, contribute creative ideas and take responsibility for an important part of a working radio station.

Who We're Looking For

This role is ideal for students, college or university learners, or emerging broadcasters who already have some presenting experience and want to take the next step into leadership and mentoring.

We're looking for someone who genuinely loves music, has a keen eye for detail and enjoys the creative and technical sides of radio.

Previous broadcasting experience is welcome, but not essential. Enthusiasm, reliability and a willingness to learn are just as important.

Ideally, you'll have:

  • A broad appreciation of music across different genres and decades.
  • Strong organisational skills and excellent attention to detail.
  • An interest in music programming, radio scheduling and playlist development.
  • Confidence working with computers, databases and digital systems.
  • A creative mindset and willingness to contribute new ideas.
  • The ability to take initiative and manage responsibilities independently.
  • Good communication skills and a collaborative approach to teamwork.

It would suit:

  • Presenters who enjoy helping others improve and grow
  • Students studying media, radio, journalism, or performance
  • Those looking to build leadership and people-management experience
  • Confident communicators who can support the wider team
  • Anyone considering a future career in broadcasting, media leadership, or production

Hobbyists with a passion for radio and a supportive attitude are very welcome — full guidance and ongoing support will be provided.

  • Review playlist performance, variety and suitability, suggesting changes where appropriate.
  • Contribute creative ideas for themed programming, music features and seasonal playlists.
  • Support the preparation and scheduling of our weekday Throwback Hour, working alongside presenters to bring their themes and selections to air.
