The Official Top 40 has just revealed its newest number one as Taylor Swift's newest single 'I Knew It, I Knew You' as part of the Toy Story 5 soundtrack, out June 19th. This achievement marks Swift's seventh UK chart-topping single, as well as being her second this year alone.
Since it's release last Friday, the song skyrocketed to the top of the the Official Trending Chart for this week, accompanied by names such as Billboard chart-topper Ella Langley, TikTok sensation Alex Warren, and disco-pop icon Madonna. With Swift securing the number one this week, Ariana Grande has been dethroned following her battle to achieve the top spot last week, with her newest single 'hate that i made you love me', allowing for Swift to achieve her seventh UK number one single. By gaining this position, she joins:
- Robbie Williams
- U2
- Tinie Tempah
- George Michael
- McFly
- Michael Jackson
- David Guetta
- Jess Glynne
All having achieved 7 number one singles on the UK charts, as well as asserting herself as the sixth female solo artist ever to achieve this feat.

Swift last achieved a UK number one single with 'Opalite' from her latest album The Life of a Showgirl back in February this year, although initially debuting on the chart back in October 2025, peaking at number one for one week. Where she may have only achieved six number one singles before today, her singles tend to lurk in the charts for years, where 'Opalite' remained at number 73 last week, almost eight months after its initial chart debut. Swift's other chart-toppers include:
- Look What You Made Me Do (2017)
- Anti-Hero (2022)
- Is It Over Now? (Taylor's Version) (2023)
- Fortnight (Featuring Post Malone) (2024)
- The Fate of Ophelia (2025)
- Opalite (2026)
Many of her early-career singles, such as 'I Knew You Were Trouble' and 'Love Story', peaked at number two, so it is greatly evident that Swift's team have been pushing their hardest to secure another number one single, albeit from the Toy Story 5 soundtrack.

Prior to the single's release, three limited edition cds and two vinyl were released for pre-order, exclusive to Taylor Swift's website and each with unique artwork. In just hours, all of these physical music products sold out, growing the unfathomable hype for Swift's addition to the soundtrack, where fans could buy access to new versions of the song on these products. The three different cd versions include the standard version, acoustic version, and piano version of the track, whereas the two vinyl include the standard version on the A side, backed with the instrumental on the B side.
Although Swift's team is notoriously criticised for the shear amount of alternative physical versions that they produce with each release or album, where her 2024 album The Tortured Poet's Department is a great example with a jaw-dropping 27 different physical versions alone, Swifties were bound to purchase any available product associated with the release; a strategic but perhaps controversial tactic to secure the number one spot.

As for now, the anticipation is only growing for the release of Toy Story 5 next week, where it has been seven years since Toy Story 4 released back in 2019. From the trailers, the movie is set to centre around the rise of technology affecting the relationship of kids and toys, naming this film's antagonist as Lilypad (an ode to the LeapFrog device). With the growth of technology nowadays, the story is sure to reside with fans of the franchise since its original release in 1995, perfect for both adults and kids to enjoy.
There are also rumours that Taylor Swift will make her own cameo in Toy Story 5, but this is yet to be announced. Swift has previously adopted voice acting roles, notably as Audrey in The Lorax (2012), so it is not totally impossible for her to revitalise her involvement in film. Additionally, she appeared at the film's premiere on Tuesday in Los Angeles, performing 'I Knew It, I Knew You' for the first time, as well as a rendition of the classic 'You've Got a Friend in Me' with Randy Newman.

It is without a doubt that there is so much anticipation building up around the release of the newest installment to the Toy Story franchise, especially with Swift now taking the top spot in today's charts. For now, we can only wait until the film comes out next Friday to confirm any further involvement from Taylor Swift in the franchise, all whilst we continue to enjoy her newest country tune.
