Programme Manager

The Programme Manager is a key behind-the-scenes role at Devote Radio, helping to shape how the station sounds and runs day to day. This volunteer position is perfect for someone who loves music, radio, and organisation, and wants real hands-on experience working with industry-standard broadcast systems.

You’ll be responsible for managing all music uploaded into Aiir Scheduler and the Playout ONE, making sure tracks are checked, approved, and ready for air. This includes collecting ISRC codes, checking metadata is correct, and keeping the music library organised and up to date. You’ll also play a big part in how the station flows by creating and managing programme clocks and scheduling them each week.

This role offers genuine experience in radio programming, music management, and broadcast operations — skills that are highly valuable for careers in radio, music, media, and digital content.

Who This Role Is For

This role is ideal for young people who are curious about how radio stations work behind the scenes. You don’t need previous radio experience — just a willingness to learn and a good eye for detail.

This role would suit:

  • Students studying media, music, radio, or digital production
  • Young people looking to build experience for college, university, or future jobs
  • Music fans interested in playlists, music curation, and how stations choose what gets played
  • Organised, detail-focused people who enjoy working with systems and schedules
  • Anyone considering a career in radio, music management, or the wider media industry

Hobbyists and those new to broadcasting are also very welcome — full training and support will be provided.

Key Responsibilities

  • Manage all music uploads within Aiir Scheduler and Playout ONE.
  • Vet and approve all submitted tracks before they are added to the station playlist, ensuring they meet Devote Radio’s content and quality standards.
  • Gather, record, and manage ISRC codes for all tracks used on the station.
  • Ensure all music metadata is accurate and complete, including artist name, track title, version, and duration.
  • Keep the station’s music library organised and consistent.
  • Create, schedule, and manage programme clocks on a weekly basis.
  • Set up new clocks and allocate them correctly within the broadcast schedule.
  • Update and adjust clocks to support changes in programming or special broadcasts.
  • Work with presenters and the wider Devote Radio team to support smooth, professional output.

This role is completely remote, meaning you can volunteer from anywhere with a laptop and an internet connection. There’s no studio travel required and no fixed location — everything is managed online using broadcast systems and team communication tools.

You’ll be able to:

  • Work from home and fit the role around college, university, work, or other commitments
  • Learn and use real radio playout and scheduling software remotely
  • Manage your time flexibly while still being part of an active station team
  • Gain professional experience without needing to be based in a studio

Full training and ongoing support will be provided, so even if you’ve never used Aiir Scheduler or Playout ONE before, you’ll be guided step-by-step until you’re confident in the role.
