Luke Littler Clinches Grand Slam Title and Becomes Youngest World Number One

Luke Littler Clinches Grand Slam Title in Wolverhampton

Luke Littler has made darts history once again, winning the Grand Slam of Darts and officially becoming the youngest world number one in PDC history.

Teenage sensation Littler delivered a commanding 16–11 victory over Luke Humphries in Wolverhampton to secure back-to-back Grand Slam titles. The win capped off a remarkable evening in which his earlier semi-final triumph over Danny Noppert had already guaranteed his ascent to the top of the world rankings at just 18 years of age.

The atmosphere inside the Aldersley Leisure Village reached fever pitch as Littler, calm and composed throughout, produced another display of maturity beyond his years. Humphries pushed him hard in the opening stages, but Littler’s heavy scoring and ruthless finishing under pressure proved the difference as he edged further ahead.

His achievement also breaks one of the sport’s major records — becoming world number one at 18, surpassing Michael van Gerwen’s previous mark set at age 24. Littler’s meteoric rise has taken place in under two years on the professional tour, a journey many believed would take far longer to bear fruit.

Speaking after the win, Littler said: “It’s not even been two years on the tour and I’m already world number one. That is job done — but now the hard work begins to stay there.” His rival Humphries, visibly frustrated but respectful, hinted that their rivalry is only just beginning, declaring: “It’s war now.”

With the World Darts Championship approaching, all eyes will be on Littler to see whether he can maintain his new position at the summit of the sport. For now, though, darts has a new — and very young — king.
