Marvel’s Wolverine marks the next long-awaited project for Insomniac Games, and expectations for the developer will be high following the brilliant Marvel Spider-Man games that showcased a new standard for superhero video games. While the games will be similar in their character and story-focused approach, Wolverine's content will be more violent and bloody than the mostly light-hearted entries that preceded it.

Marvel’s Wolverine is set to be released as a PlayStation exclusive on September 15, a perfect time for fans to get their teeth into a new AAA game before GTA 6 takes the cake later in the year.

The game's story will follow James “Logan” Howlett and, like the Spider-Man games, introduce a number of familiar side characters along the way. So far, fans have seen Mystique and Omega Red and are eagerly awaiting more information about any other mutants or other characters that may be making an appearance.

Fans may not have to wait too long for more unveilings regarding Marvel’s Wolverine, as it will be opening the show at PlayStation State of Play on Tuesday, June 2nd. PlayStation will reveal trailers and sneak peeks at its upcoming games for the rest of the year.

Wolverine has been portrayed as a relentless and violent hero in films, games, and comics for many years, especially in the 2017 film Logan. Marvel’s Wolverine will mirror that brutality in the games combat; Wolverine will cut through wave after wave of enemies. The violence will be more detailed and realistic than ever, thanks to the new blood tech system developed by Insomniac Games.

Wolverine’s actor for the game, Liam McIntyre, said: “Wolverine’s combat, making that special, making that feel like him. Making it different from anything else you’ve played, that’s a tough job. What is cool for me is that there’s one section of the game I got to try, and it was visceral, immediate, and so incredibly satisfying. I was like, " This is going to be amazing”.

Gameplay released on the PlayStation YouTube channel has already hyped fans for the game. The gameplay featured everything from chases across roofs, brutal finishers and an amazing movement system that captures the speed and strength of Wolverine as he leaps from unfortunate enemy to unfortunate enemy. Wolverine can also take a different approach, leaping from tree to tree above unsuspecting targets before a brutal stealth takedown similar to Marvel’s Spider-Man stealth mechanics.

The game will take Wolverine and players all across the world, from the Canadian wilderness to Japan, where some of the best and most iconic stories have taken place along with many more

Liam McIntyre talked about what it was like having the opportunity to play Wolverine in the game: “My job is to try and find the essence of who Wolverine is. Especially as it applies to our story, people hurt him, people take from him, people betray him, and he still fights for people who can’t fight for themselves.

“It’s one of the greatest honours of my life. One of the biggest responsibilities I’ve ever had and one of the coolest I’ve ever got to do.”

The game was pitched off the back of the first Spider-Man game back in 2018, and fans are ready to dive into a new adventure with Wolverine.

Hello and welcome to the third instalment of the ten-part blog series on the top ten upcoming games of 2026. This week will focus on the long-awaited James Bond game, 007 First Light.

007 First Light is set to be released on PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X and S and PC on the 27th May. It will also be released on Nintendo Switch in the summer.

The game was developed by IO Interactive, the same developers behind the beloved Hitman series games, the developers are using the same video game design software "Glacier"

The game is set before James Bond became the MI6 agent audiences have come to know from the films starring Daniel Craig, Pierce Brosnan and the books by Ian Fleming. The narrative follows a younger James Bond as he works to earn the 007 number in MI6's new revived 00 programme.

After being forced into a dangerous scenario in a mission gone wrong at the start of the game, Bond will try to bring down the dangerous 009.

The game will take players all over the world, from Iceland to Malta to London and much more. The narrative is an original story, not based on the early James Bond films or Ian Fleming's novels.

No James Bond game is complete without Bond's iconic Aston Martin, and 007 First Light is no different. Players will be able to drive the brand new Aston Martin Valhalla in the game, a car fitting of a 007 agent.

The similarities to the Hitman series are evident in 007 First Light, as players have a wide range of ways to achieve their goals. 

Players can take the stealthy approach to the game, sneaking past enemies, disabling cameras and creating distractions with Bond’s gadget watch, or incapacitating enemies with a dart phone, or using the smoke bomb lighter. Bond can use his Q lens to find useful items in the environment, which can help him distract unsuspecting enemies.

Or maybe you want to take a more secret agent style and eavesdrop on conversations and bluff your way past security and enemies, the choice is yours!

But the mission doesn't always go to plan. As a last resort, Bond can use his license to kill to take out his assailants. He can use a focus mode that slows time to help him get the perfect shot on an upcoming enemy. Or in hand-to-hand combat, Bond can utilise dodges, parries and takedowns to get the upper hand. He will use a wide range of different weapons to get the job done.

If players pre-order the game, then they can play 007 First Light one day early and receive a number of extra items and cosmetics as well, including 4 bonus outfits, the “Agent’s Mark” weapon skin and the “Gleaming Pack” gadget skins, which will give Bond’s gadgets an exciting new look.

The game is mostly single player, but players can complete training simulations and compare their scores and times with other players from around the world.

The next game we are going to look into is Lego Batman: The Legacy of the Dark Knight. The game is set to release on PS5, Xbox Series X/S, PC and Nintendo Switch on May 22nd. 

This game brings together some of the Caped Crusader's most iconic and popular stories from across comic books, films, and more, including the Nolan trilogy, Matt Reeves' The Batman, Batman 89 and more. The game will bring together all the most notorious and well-loved characters from across the Batman universe, including Bane, Joker, Penguin, Robin, and hundreds more.

The new Lego Batman game was first announced at Gamescom Opening Night Live on August 19, 2025. The fan's first look at the new game was a reveal trailer released, showing the brand-new open-world Gotham City, the Batmobile, Arkham Asylum, and more.

The trailer also showcased some of the game's combat mechanics, including perch takedowns, combination attacks, stealth gameplay, and more.

The combat gameplay has similarities to the Arkham games, players can utilise jumping perch takedowns on unsuspecting enemies, dodge out the way of enemy attacks, and switch targets quickly in order to crowd control a group of enemies, during the fights the player that the player is targeting will be highlighted with a different colour to make it clear to the player where they’re attacks will land within a big group of enemies. 

This highlighted enemy can be quickly switched for crowd control of large groups of enemies. Players can also utilise a number of Batman's gadgets in combat to give the Bat an advantage over henchmen and other enemies. Batman can use his grapple gun and zip between perch spots above enemies.

One of the main aspects of the game, however, is the stories players will experience throughout. Warner Bros. Games released a behind-the-scenes YouTube video for Batman: Legacy of the Dark Knight, featuring DC Studios CEO and James Gunn. He said, “One of the many great things about Batman: Legacy of the Dark Knight is that it manifests all of the different elements of Batman that we have loved over the years. People can experience this character maybe as fully as they ever have.” The game will bring together fans' most beloved stories into one game.

The game also has a vast array of customisable options for the player to mix and match. Batman himself will have countless different suits that can be unlocked throughout the game, with everything from Batman Beyond, Arkham Batman suit, absolute Batman, Batman 1989 and over 40+ variants for just the Dark Knight. The customisation doesn’t  stop there players will be able to drive through Gotham in a wide array of different Batmobiles and vehicles that have appeared in Batman lore throughout the years. These include the 1966 Classic Series Batmobile, 1989 Batmobile, The Tumbler, Arkham Knight Tank and the Batman 2022 Charger and many more.

Players will be able to upgrade and customise their very own Batcave as they progress through the stories within the game. They can fill up the garage with different iconic vehicles and display various suits, trophies from villains and any other type of furniture to make the Batcave your own. Players will be able to keep track of all their progress, upgrades, and more through the Batcomputer.

This blog is part of a new ten-week series. I will be doing a deep dive into all the biggest upcoming games of 2026, from GTA 6 to Wolverine on PS5. I can’t wait to get started, and I hope you enjoy it.

This week, we explore the long-awaited sequel Subnautica 2, an open-world underwater survival game.

Players experience the game as Ryley Robinson, Non-Essential Chief for the Alterra organisation. The game begins with Robinson hurriedly climbing into an escape pod as the Aurora explodes. He then seeks refuge on the ocean planet 4546B. Players explore the alien underwater world, gather resources, and build bases as they uncover the secrets of the ocean planet.

Subnautica 2 is the third game in the series. The first, Subnautica, entered early access in December 2014 and was fully released in January 2018. Subnautica: Below Zero was a spin-off set in a different location on 4546B. It was released in early access on January 30th, 2019, and fully released in May 2021.

Subnautica 2 is a direct sequel to the first game. Fans were extremely excited when the first teaser trailer dropped on the Subnautica YouTube channel in October 2024. The trailer received an overwhelmingly positive reaction from the fandom, including from big YouTubers like Jacksepticeye, who commented, “We are so back!!”

The teaser trailer gave fans lots to be excited about, including a brand-new safe shallows area with vibrant colours and amazing graphics. One of the new vehicles, the Tadpole, was shown to fans for the first time. A small one-person submarine similar to the Seamoth and Seatruck from previous games would have sparked excitement amongst fans. Another important aspect of the Subnautica experience is the massive alien sea creatures players must avoid. The teaser trailer delivered on this: at the end, a mysterious purple glow can be seen in the darkest depths behind the player as enormous tentacles reach out to block them from view. This will give fans the scares for which Subnautica is best known.

However, the biggest part of the teaser trailer was the confirmation that Subnautica 2 would feature multiplayer. This welcome change contrasts with previous instalments, which were single-player only. The Subnautica 2 YouTube channel has released short videos showcasing new features and offering behind-the-scenes content. One of the dev logs was titled Diving in Together in Multiplayer.

Anthony Gallegos, the Design Lead for Unknown Worlds, said in the Diving in Together in Multiplayer Dev Log: “Players latched onto isolation, and that became so essential to Subnautica. But now with Subnautica 2 and a fresh start, new engine, we thought to ourselves Okay, we can still make a game that can deliver on isolation for players who want that, but we can also have multiplayer.” Lead Engineer Jon Bjarnason said, “When you want to build a truly immersive good multiplayer experience for players, it is to build it from the ground up.”

In Subnautica 2,  players can play solo or with up to 3 other friends. The new multiplayer system gives players a lot of flexibility, as they can seamlessly and easily convert previously single-player worlds to multiplayer and invite friends to play. This can be done either by the friends list on their machine or from the one within the game.
